7th Business Roundtable Held Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Grand View Restaurant

(04/30/2010) - The 7th Business Roundtable, co-sponsored by the Enterprise Zone Corporation of Braddock and Heritage Community Initiatives, was held at The Restaurant at Grand View on April 22nd. Representatives from Heritage Community Initiatives presented information on Mon Valley Energy Innovation Training (MOVE IT), a workforce development program, to local businesses.

Heritage Community Initiatives recently received funding from the United States Department of Labor Energy Training Partnership program. Over the next year MOVE IT’s four training sessions will prepare 120 individuals to work in “green jobs” such as home energy performance, HVAC, building retrofitting and deconstruction, landscaping and other environmentally related fields. Session One begins June 14th, and Session Two begins August 23rd.

“Trainees will acquire hands-on training as well as certification in specific work disciplines to prepare them for entry-level technician jobs. Employers can participate in the MOVE IT program by placing trainees in subsidized internships and, thereafter, employing them in permanent jobs,” according to Program Instructor Danae Clark.
