Gulf Materials, LLC Recognized at Annual Dinner

(12/05/2011) - Gulf Materials, LLC of Braddock was recognized at the EZCB's 25th Annual Dinner for its expansion and job creation activities.

In 2006 this company came to the EZCB with a plan to lease property on the Mon Riverfront in Braddock and transport coal and other bulk materials. Gulf Materials, LLC, led by Cliff Wise and Greg Rudman, leased the former Specialty Steel Company site in Braddock with financing assistance from the Enterprise Zone. The loan funded the acquisition of vehicles and equipment to support operations.

Gulf began offloading coal in the summer of 2005 initially with 5 employees. The company has steadily grown and increased employment with many employees from this area.

Also, Gulf invested in energy efficiency practices and improvements to its facility and operations. The Enterprise Zone awarded BEEP (Business Energy Efficiency Program) status to acknowledge Gulf's efforts.

Gulf now has 44 employees and continues to look for new business opportunities.
