Enterprise Zone Secures State Tax Credits For Community Development

(02/01/2021) - The Enterprise Zone Corp. of Braddock (EZCB) has been awarded Pennsylvania Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) State tax credits for community development activities in the Borough of Rankin. Pennsylvania provides these tax credits to non-profit corporations to enable them to offer the credits to companies who donate funds to non-profit corporations.

For fiscal year 2020-21, EZCB has secured donations from five (5) local companies - First National Bank, Epic Metals Corporation, Gumpher, Inc. MNB Building Partnership and Phillips Tank & Structure. The funds, in the amount of $37,000, are to be utilized by EZCB in Rankin in cooperation with the borough government. The majority of the funds will provide EZCB and Rankin with professional consulting services for housing development activities. The balance of the funds will be used to advance the EastShore Initiative to promote the area and to reimburse EZCB for administrative services.

EZCB President William J. Pfoff said, "We're looking for creative ways to help our local communities. The Neighborhood Assistance Program enables us to offer tax credits to contributors. We're very appreciative and pleased that local companies are supportive of our efforts. Over the years EZCB has provided financing to many local businesses to invest in their companies. Now we're seeing local companies investing in the communities. We hope to continue such partnerships to improve our member towns of Rankin, Braddock, North Braddock and Swissvale".
