Mary's Vine Opened in Rankin August 30, 2019

(09/06/2019) - Mary’s Vine opened August 30th at the former Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Rankin. It is an exciting new restaurant with an emphasis on offering fine wines.

The Stasinowsky/Smith Family, parents Cheryl and Wally, daughter Amber and husband Daniel Smith and son Jordan, moved from California and purchased the church property in Rankin and the former St. Barnabas Church and Rectory in Swissvale. Cheryl and Wally have been in construction for over 20 years and the other family members have helped in the renovation. Jordan, a trained sommelier, selects wines that are not generally available in the Pittsburgh area. A full food menu is offered with an extensive list of appetizers for pairing with wines.

The $1.7 million project was assisted with financing from the Enterprise Zone Corp. of Braddock (EZCB), the Allegheny County Redevelopment Authority and Bridgeway Capital along with Stasinowskys’ equity investment, blood, sweat and tears.

Cheryl Stasinowsky said: “This has been the toughest, and yet, most rewarding challenge of our lives. We have grown as a family, become better problem solvers, and pushed ourselves beyond what we thought we could do. All things are possible to those who believe!”

“This is one of the most significant projects in Rankin in decades”, said William Pfoff, EZCB President and Vice President of Rankin Borough Council. He added, “EZCB has assisted in a number of development projects in our EastShore communities of Rankin, Braddock, North Braddock and Swissvale. We’re also looking forward to the redevelopment of the Carrie Furnace site in Rankin and Swissvale. Many more developments are being considered. There’s an economic and community resurgence taking place in the EastShore”.

The Enterprise Zone Corporation serves Braddock, North Braddock, Rankin and Swissvale. Incorporated in 1986, the Enterprise Zone Corp. is a public-private partnership comprised of local elected officials, business owners and citizens. Overall over $400 million has been invested in the zone, creating thousands of jobs. For more information call the EZCB office at 412-371-6380 or visit the website at www.ezcb.org.
